Berkelium is one of the actinides, which are a group of radioactive metals. It was discovered in the middle of the last century by a group of American scientists and given the name after a small city in California, the US. It is an extremely rare element which can be produced artificially and its yearly production amount is close to just 1 gram. Barkelium is very highly toxic and due to micro amounts of its annual production, it has no commercial use.
