Flerovium is a chemical element and a radioactive metal which was discovered in the labs of a large research facility in Moscow, Russia, in collaboration with an American group of scientists from the University of California. The Russian scientists named this element after a known Russian nuclear physicist Gregory Flerov who is considered to be a discoverer of spontaneous fission. Flerovium can only be received in terms of nuclear reactors and has no other application but scientific research. So far, there are only a few atoms of this element have been produced.
